ideaPort LLC began in 1995 as Teacher's Pet Software. The small company developed a security application that locked down the Windows desktop—giving teachers and librarians to ability to protect their computers from the nible fingers of their clever students. In 1996, the company name changed its name to ideaPort.
In 2000, the company shifted its primary focus from building desktop applications to developing web applications.
The company evolved into an LLC in 2006 and continues to develop and maintain Web sites for current and new clients.
The company's founder and owner, Greg Long, does have a high-school diploma and a genyoowine college diploma—unlike many computer geeks out there (well, at least the famous ones). In fact, he's got a couple sheepskins on the wall—a BS Electrical Engineering, BS in Secondary Education, and a MS in Educational Leadership. He is proficient in Spanish and enjoys exploring the sites and sounds of Mexico and Latin-America.
In addition to banging out code, Greg also teaches Web development classes for Learning Tree International. Greg began teaching with Learning Tree in 2001 and specializes in teaching classes on the topics of Javascript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Web 2.0, Ajax and ColdFusion courses. He as taught courses in London, Hong Kong, Canada, and throughout the United States to students from Fortune 500 companies, universities and the US government.
Greg was contracted by Learning Tree to write, develop and teach an Ajax Web development course and a ColdFusion programming course. He is also the technical editor for Learning Tree's Cascading Style Sheet course.
Curtis Long is a relative newbie in the field of Web design and programming. With a BS Mechanical Engineering degree and 14 years professional engineering experience in his pocket, he is well-versed in technical design and project management. Curtis also has a good deal of experience as a professional artist, making his living as a painter for almost ten years. He now brings his talents and skills as a fine artist and engineer to web design.
